Heat Stroke!
The signs of heartstroke include any of the following:
- exaggerated panting
- rapid or erratic pulse
- drooling
- anxious or staring expression
- trembling
- stumbling or lack of coordination
- red lips and tongue, which may eventually turn bluish
- convulsions or vomiting
Immediately:
- move the animal to a cool, shady place
- wet the dog with cool water
- fan the dog to increase evaporation
- do not apply ice, it may constrict the blood vessels
- encourage the dog to drink cool water or eat crushed ice/water
- Take the dog immediately to your veterinarian. If they're closed, go to the emergency clinic!
